IN PERSON

We gather together for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. We have plenty of parking and plenty of people around to help you get inside smoothly. We don’t have assigned seats, so you’re welcome to sit wherever is most comfortable for you. We use our screen (up front, behind the pulpit) instead of bulletins, so everything you need to know will be up there. If you’d like a printed copy of the slides, ask an usher. If you'd like to know what’s coming up, there are colorful printed sheets in the pockets on the back of the pews, along with hymnals and Bibles. After worship, we typically have a coffee fellowship, where you’re welcome to grab a drink and snack and join in conversation.

ONLINE

We know coming in person to worship can sometimes be a bit overwhelming.

  • Many folks prefer to attend worship online.

  • We also offer our services on Zoom in real time and recordings after the fact on YouTube.

  • You can have your camera on or off.

  • You can be dressed and ready for the day or still be in your PJs.

  • You can join us from your living room with coffee in hand or listen in as you drive in to join us in person a little late.

  • You’re welcome just as you are. Always!

We know that “trying out” a church for the first time might be intimidating or overwhelming. Here are a few details that may make things a little less daunting! If there are other ways we can support you in planning your visit, always feel free to reach out to us

parking lot

We value worship and community being accessible to all!

  • Our parking lot has plenty of room, including designated accessible spots with ramp access and a drop-off zone at the entrance.

  • You’ll find no stairs coming into or once inside our building, and double doors to accommodate extra-wide mobility aids. You can comfortably remain in or with your mobility aid during services.

  • We have gender neutral and family-friendly bathrooms.

  • We offer large print versions of the slides we use in worship instead of bulletins, and we also have hearing assistance devices, which are connected to our sound system for folks who might need them

  •  For our neurodivergent friends, there is a large atrium with cozy chairs in conversation nooks for those who may need a quiet moment.

If there’s something that would make joining us easier that we haven’t listed here or haven’t set up yet, don’t hesitate to let us know - office@newportpres.org. We’d love to have you!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely nothingl We are a community of seekers, all on our own journeys of faith and connection. You are welcome to ask questions, disagree, or even sit in silence to figure out what you think. When we say all are welcome, we truly mean it!

  • Our worship services typically last about an hour. We like to have enough time to engage with scripture, stories, and song without commandeering your whole day.

  • Kids are welcome and celebrated in worship at Newport! We have some crafts and activities in the back of the sanctuary for those who might like something to do while hanging out in the sanctuary. One of our greatest joys in worship is our "Time for Young Disciples," which is a children's sermon for everyone to enjoy. This happens during worship, in the beginning half of service. Seekers of all ages (particularly young ones of school age) come forward for an intentional lesson that connects life and scripture. On the first Sunday of the month, we invite elementary-age students to start the service in Sunday School, joining us again for communion toward the end of the service. On the second Sunday of the month, elementary students are invited to pop out of the sanctuary for Sunday School after the Time for Young Disciples. For younger ones, we offer an as-needed nursery for children up to 5 for the whole service. Our ushers would be happy to connect you with the right people.

  • Really, it's up to you. For the most part, we dress pretty casually. Some people prefer to dress up a bit, but we don't place much importance on what you wear. God isn't concerned about what you wear either, so wear something comfortable.

  • You'll find at least two ushers who are glad to welcome you into our building and answer any questions you have. Additionally, just about anyone else you run into is gifted with a gracious spirit of hospitality and will gladly answer your questions (or help you connect with the person who knows the answers). You're always welcome to track down Pastor Kelly, too!

  • Newport is an active community all throughout the week, not just Sundays at 10:00 a.m. ! We have weekly Bible study, book groups, women's groups, hiking and biking groups, youth group, and so much more. We also have open office hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Have an idea or looking for something specific? Feel free to reach out at office@newportpres.org and we'll get you plugged in.

  • No! We do pass an offering plate during worship, when members are encouraged to give. But you do not need to give, as you will be our guest. Your presence is a gift to us.

  • We're here to help! You can always reach out to us with questions or ideas. Our church office email is office@newportpres.org or you can reach out directly to Pastor Kelly at pastorkelly@newportpres.org. You can also give us a call at 425-746-6111.
